The Canadian/Belgian piano teacher and pianist Marie-Charline Foccroulle received the title Doctor of Music in Performance in 2017 from the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin, Ireland. She previously graduated from the Cologne Hochschule für Musik, Germany, and from the Conservatoire de musique et d’art dramatique of Quebec, Canada.

 

With already a long career and experience as piano teacher, Dr Foccroulle, which has taught the piano in Canada, Belgium, and Germany, is strongly concerned in her teaching to reach a better conjugation between music pedagogy, music performance, and musicology. Also an active musician, Mrs Foccroulle has given solo and chamber music concerts as well as lecture recitals, in Europe and North America. The thesis of her doctoral studies, done with Irish pianist John O’Conor, looks into the interpretation of Beethoven’s and Schubert’s last piano sonatas, which Dr Foccroulle has played many times in concert.

 

Dr Marie is currently teaching piano, music theory, and piano accompaniment at Phuket School of Music.
